Be Afraid of Being Unknown

Hello!

I don't know you, at least personally. You too don't know me, personally. You are getting to know me as you check out these newsletters that I am sending. I will know you once you respond to these newsletters.

What I am trying to tell you is that we are known strangers. But what if we were unknown? What if nobody knows you or me? What will happen if I am not sitting confidently in the minds of millions of people today? Ok, if not millions, then at least a few hundred people.

If I am not occupying this kind of mind space even among say 700 people on the internet, then what is going to happen to me? I think it's an uncomfortable feeling if I have the power to login into the mind of so many people in the Internet age and yet, I am not doing it.

I think you and I, we, need to take this seriously. Remaining unknown online today can have quite a few unpleasant consequences. Let me list a few:

1. Career: You are working in a job or have a small business. People don't know you online and you continue to go to your job office or business office. One fine day, you get an email that the company is facing losses and it is going for human resources cuts. Guess, what happens next? You get an email that you are being let-go due to company losses. Sad?

Another scenario: You find that your business is not doing too well now, compared to the past. Whereas others you know, who are in the same business as yours, seem to be doing well and regularly getting new customers. What could be the reason? Is it because they have good visibility online? You and your business are unknown online. Sad?

2. Relationship: You are not active online and for some reason you are not attracting the right business relationships or personal relationships in your life. What could be the reason? You are unknown online? Sad?

3. Influence: You don't have as much influence in your network of friends, family, relatives and acquaintances, compared to those who are active online. Others, you know have a good following and people gravitate towards them and listen to them attentively. Sad?

4. Freedom: You don't have the kind of freedom you would like in a job or your business. People are ignorant of you online and you don't exist for them. So you can't do much about it and have to stick to offline methods and strategies that seem limited in scope. Sad?

5. Money: For some reason, others you know who have a following online and are active on social media are getting many business opportunities. They are getting good financial deals and are so much more financially secure than you are. You seem to be lagging far behind them. Sad?

This is why I said, "Be afraid of being unknown" in the online world today. Start becoming more socially active online so that you too can attract and enjoy the benefits that come from this positive action.
